Trying to differentiate Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Acute or Chronic Bronchitis with Asthma. sdf jhgsdkjfh auhajdghaklj......Why must all these respiratory diseases have similar symptoms????????I think i will just diagnose everyone i see next time as...'i'm sorry i do not have the adequate knowledge to diagnose you as i only studied
for 4 years but i'm sure my friend the doctor who studied for 6 years will be more
than happy to see you and when he gives you a prescription, you can come back here and get the meds.'
hahahahahaha..i'm going to be some super crappy pharmacist next time man.
On a more serious note, interviewed (or more rather Dr. Elliot interviewed) a patient suffering from Parkinson's disease after our lecture on Neurodegenerative disorders. (It's interesting to see how the lecturers get patients to tell us their story, we had also an HIV patient sharing with us his story after our lecture on HIV). Anyway, he mentioned that the single most depressing aspect of his disease is his inability to FEEL happiness and joy. When he said that, i was like...woah. He can smile and move his facial muscle to form a smile but that feeling is just absent from him.
Another one of those moments when something like this puts things into perspective for you. Imagined, after tasting the most lip-smacking, yummy-licious food in the whole entire universe and not being able to express feel joy. Or even, just to suddenly see a small little flower bloom after months of 'dull-ness' and wanting to feel happy about it but you can't.
How often i find myself taking things for granted. If there's one thing i'm guilty of, it's not being fully appreciative of the people around me. I know i sometimes take my friends for granted. I'm going to start learning to be appreciative AGAIn.
We are imperfect and we often fail but there is Someone who is Perfect Who Never fails.

Same thing - different pathology!=)
But, yes, I do agree. Being in medicine either makes one a cynic or whacks you back into appreciating the little things in life.
And another thing - you'll make an excellent pharmacist. Not because I know you, but because I know the God in you.=)
hahaha...yes, friend-who-studied-extra-2-years.
Thanks.
