Not sure about you but i was always told by mum that all these instant noodles that we eat and adore has a layer of plastic coating them. Just recently i heard that again from a guy i just met (his mum was part of the team that discovered indo mi back in indonesia) and he said that yea, its true. And apparently to get indo mi, you just invert the main compound of rat poison.
side note: that's another thing that's related to rat poison already. I learnt that Warfarin, a blood thinning drug used commonly in post stroke patients is also closely related to rat poison chemically. chemistry can be scary..i rather sometimes not know these things..
He told me that the leftover water used to boil the noodles can actually solidify and there's a technique to boil the noodles to get rid of the plastic layering. That got me interested. Last Friday, i ate 2 packets of indo mi and kept the water used to boil the noodles.
After one week, well..the pictures above speak for itself.
The water turned all gooey and smelly and clumps of yucky stuffs formed at the sides. There were some clumpy stuffs floating around and although it didn't fully solidify (could be the cold weather we're having, it's autumn already here), it did spook me enough. I don't think i will be eating instant noodles for a looooonnnnngggg time already if ever.
So yea, give it a go if you are interested. Be warned, you may not have the same affection for indo mi/cintan/maggi me anymore as i have come to experienced.
Just had my first experience in scaling a fish. It brought back memories of scrolling through the pasar malam back home. Everything smelt so fishy. Next time i'm home sick, i'm gonna go scale a fish and think about the fish monger at the Melawis pasar malam chopping fishes for us.
